Why are their different versions of the same slots title?
September 22, 2011

As an experienced gambler you may be aware of the fact that there are often multiple versions of a particular slot title and may have wondered why…
The reason for this can be twofold, either the slots are manufactured by two different software providers which means that they are essentially different games altogether but happen to share a common name, like some of the Marvel themed superhero titles like Spiderman that are shared by both Microgaming and Cryptologic powered casinos OR they may just be different versions of the same slot title.
When it comes to the latter, the slots will usually hold extended names on the original, for example the famous Mega Moolah slot has sequels based on the original game that feature many of the same graphics called Mega Moolah Summertime, Mega Moolah 5 reel drive and Mega Moolah Isis which all add their unique spins and features to the original game.
The reason that casinos launch these types of game sequels is due to the popularity of the original games as well as the fact that as new developments and features emerge there is a demand to have these incorporated into newly released slots, and what better way to keep players happy than by improving on seasoned favourites that offer all of the fun of the originals and more!
When it comes to movies, sequels may not always be as good as the original, but online slots are quite the opposite and often new releases of well-known titles like the Tomb Raider and Thunderstruck video slots are an improvement and turn out to be big hits with slots enthusiasts.
So next time you see a release of a well-known title at your favourite online casino, give it a try and you may just be pleasantly surprised!

Maximum Bets in Online Slots
August 25, 2011

The more you put in, the more you get out… well, in most things including your online slots game play. For the most part your investment will yield directly proportionate returns, so if a jackpot slot combination pays out 2,000 coins and a player’s line bet is valued at $1, then he/she will win $2,000 credits. If the player wagered $2 on the line they would win $4,000 for the same jackpot.
The exciting thing about slots is that they offer the opportunity to earn much greater returns on the initial wagering amounts than just proportionate returns. This is especially true in the case of progressive jackpot slots which can only be hit and claimed in full if the player is wagering the maximum bet value, if this has not been done then the player will only receive a fixed payout.
If we look at Microgaming’s King Cashalot progressive slot, wagering on its 9 lines at 4 coins per payline at a cost of $0.05, needs a total of $1.80 per spin. The fixed jackpot on this particular slot machine pays out at 15,000 coins which is equivalent to $3,000. The maximum bet to qualify for the progressive jackpot prize requires wagering on 9 lines at 5 coins per payline at a cost of $0.05 each which equates to $2.25 per spin. The guaranteed minimum payout when the jackpot is hit is $100,000 with maximum payouts into the million dollar mark. That’s quite a return for such a small investment!
Randomly triggered progressives enjoy a similar scenario. The jackpots are not dependant on predetermined symbol combinations but rather can be hit randomly after any spin of the reels and can also be hit if the player bets the minimum amount but again, the larger the wagers the player makes, the greater the chances of hitting the jackpot.
Recently online casinos have introduced new slot games in which players are provided benefits within regular payouts in return for betting larger values. Examples include some Cryptologic super hero themed slots like Batman wherein players are given the option of activating the Bonus Bet feature and bet 60 coins as opposed to the maximum bet of 50 coins. When the Bonus Bet function is active, scatter payouts are better and there is the additional benefit of a bonus game that can only be triggered when this function is in use. The bonus game pays out up to 100 times the triggering bet.
A similar feature called the “Extra Bet” is available and Microgaming powered casinos like Ruby Fortune, although in this case wagered amount is increased by 50% rather than just 10 coins. This option offers larger coin payouts than the standard game as well as free spins when certain symbols and combinations appear.
While increased wagering doesn’t assure one of increased returns, it often has the potential to provide a proportionate increase or greater. Betting the maximums on slots does however result in higher risks and one need to decide if this is something that can be sustained based on budget allowances.
Celebrate Wimbledon Fever with the new Tennis Star Slot
June 17, 2011
It’s summertime and tennis fever is in the air and the sportsbooks have been heating up with tennis betting this month. The illustrious 2011 French Open at Roland Garros recently came to an end with Rafael Nadal defeating long-time foe Roger Federer in the men’s singles finals and Li Na defeating Francesca Schiavone to become the women’s champion.
Later in June the Grand Slam that most tennis fans are waiting for will commence at the ever famous Wimbledon, but you don’t have to wait that long to get some centre court action thanks to Playtech’s latest tennis themed Tennis Stars Slot.
This 5 reel, 40 payline slot features the usual array of wilds, multipliers, scatters and free spins that you’ve come to expect from these types of slots, but also offers a great bonus round. Apart from the tennis player images, the symbols are made up of a variety of tennis themed items including tennis rackets and balls, shoes and trophies.

The trophies are what you’ll want to look out for as these are wild and when they appear on reels 2, 3 and 4 they trigger the free spins bonus feature which pays out 10 times your wager amount! You’ll also get 15 free spins that can be re-triggered as many times as the same combination of symbols continue to appear on the reels.
But that’s not where the fun ends! The pair of tennis rackets is the scatter symbol and when two or more of these appear on the reels payouts are made. Five of these appearing payout 100 times the total bet and three or more trigger the Championship Bonus Game. In this feature, you’ll get to play a tennis game against the computer wherein you can choose the gender of your tennis player, either a flat or slice serve and then play the point. The points awarded will depend on the match score and the number of aces you serve, and a game win at love gives a payout of 50 times the total bets and if four aces are served then you’ll benefit from a 5x multiplier.
There is also a gamble game option which can be enabled after every payout - it is the standard Playtech game in which the player is required to guess the colour of the subsequent card with correct guesses doubling payouts and wrong ones resulting in a total loss.
Tennis stars is not only a great game to play but also offers a jackpot of 10,000 coins which can mean a grand slam win of up to $500,000 from the maximum 20 coin wager.
So why not indulge in a little tennis fever this month and play the all new Tennis Star Slot at Euro Grand Casino now.
Sterling Silver 3D Slot launching in June 2011
May 26, 2011
Earlier this year we reported that software giant Microgaming were working on their first truly 3D slot and that they planned to launch it in the near future. A few short months down the line and that reality will be realised as the Sterling Silver 3D slot machine is set to go live at Microgaming online casinos in June 2011.
Jackpot City Casino was the first to announce that the slot game will be making its debut next month and in a statement the casino referred to the new Sterling Silver 3D release as an innovative 3D Stereo slot that will differentiate itself from all other 3D slot games. The statement further described the new slot as having “super-realistic and definitely stand-out graphics“.
You may be wondering how different it can be from all the other 3D slots out there, but given that you’ll require special eyewear like you do to watch 3D movies, it must be something to behold. According to Jackpot City’s press release, the casino will be providing players with the required 3D glasses needed to enjoy the new slot which apparently has outstanding visuals including silver ingots and coins that you’ll want to reach out and touch. This probably means that you’ll have to register and wait to receive your eyewear before you can play, which may be a bit frustrating to some but definitely adds to the suspense.
As you may or may not be aware, the Sterling Silver Slot is not a new title at Microgaming casinos and the standard version of the game has been around for quite some time and proved to be very popular so far which is probably one of the reasons it has been picked to be the front runner for the new generation 3D slots at casinos.
So keep a look out for the new generation 3D Sterling Silver Slot in June and be sure to check back for a review!

Slots eclipse Table Games at online casinos
March 18, 2011

For the most part, casino table games like Blackjack, Roulette, Baccarat, Poker and Craps have been held in high esteem and regularly frequented by predominantly male and high roller patrons at land based casinos. Slots and video poker machines on the other hand, seem to have been viewed as entertainment for “amateurs”, grannies and bored housewives who are in need of some frivolous fun without the need for much skill or concentration.
Since the advent of the online casino though, this has all been changing with slots enjoying more players of all ages and genders than ever before. This popularity can be widely attributed to the fact that while online table games have remained pretty much the same over the years. In spite of new variations of games being added, the basic game layouts and structures of table games do not change, whereas online slots are continually evolving and with so many different games to choose from, players are spoilt for choice.
New technologies have allowed online casinos to offer players better graphics, enhanced sound effects and even the newly released 3D slots which give the game and even more lifelike quality. There are literally hundreds of machine types to choose from including traditional reel slots, bonus and video slots, many of which offer their own unique bonus games and free spins features that ensure hours of entertainment. What’s more is that casinos powered by leading software providers release new online slots every month, whilst new table game variations are only added a few times a year.
Table games are undoubtedly here to stay, but with more and more people discovering the world of slots, one can be assured that they definitely are top of the casino games. Play today and see for yourself!
