On the 28th of April this year, after much anticipation, the famous Mega Moolah online progressive jackpot slot finally paid out at a whopping 1.3 million and just a few days later on the 5th of May the Major Millions Slots Jackpot was hit and paid out 1,800,600 to a very lucky player!

The last time Major Millions was won was on the 4th of January 2012 and paid out at just under the 1.8 million mark and in the whole of 2011 only paid out once to the value of just under 500,000 so it looks like 2012 is going to be a lucky year for this slot!

The Major Millions progressive slots jackpot is available in 3 different variations namely the original 3 reel slot version, the 5 reel and 15 payline video slot game and of course the Mega Spin slot. According to Microgaming the original 3 reel Major Millions slot is a player favourite.

In spite of there being 3 variants of this slot, the possibility to win the progressive jackpot prize remains the same across all versions, provided of course that you’re playing the maximum bet! Should you not be playing the maximum bet and see the jackpot winning combination land on your screen you will not be eligible for the jackpot prize, so always make sure you’re betting the maximum when playing progressives.

Since the hit, Major Millions has been reset to its usual 250,000 minimum but in just a few short days is already passing the 550,000 mark and Mega Moolah is already back to over 1 million!

When it comes to Progressive Jackpots, Microgaming pays out players in the currency in which they are playing, so for example, if you’re playing in Euro’s and happen to be lucky enough to hit the jackpot then you’ll be paid out in Euros.

The much anticipated UK Sunday Times annual “Rich List” profiling Britain and Ireland’s top 1000 wealthy people has been released. The 2012 list which was compiled by Philip Beresford is based on what is termed “identifiable wealth” including land, property, racehorses, art and of course shares in public companies. Due to the fact that bank balance information is not available in the public domain this factor has been omitted when compiling the list, so those featured on the list may in fact be considerably wealthier than reported on the list, but presumably this should not alter the rankings too significantly.

In addition to the main list, the Sunday Times also features categories and sub categories according to industry and even features an online gambling section within the digital and online industry. The fact that this section exists is a positive reflection on the country and can be attributed to the fact that the UK was one of the first nations to legalize and regulate online casinos and gambling.

When it comes to the featured names in online gambling, father and daughter duo Peter and Denise Coates, owners of Bet365 take top honours with a whopping £750 million fortune. What is truly amazing though is that this figure is up £250 million from 2011’s results, pretty much proving that they and Bet365 are in fact recession proof. In terms of the national list the Coates are featured in 90th place overall which is no small feat considering that their business is relatively new in comparison to brick and mortar business empires which have been around for generations.

In second place are Ruth Parason and Russ DeLeon, founders of the famous PartyGaming. Their estimated wealth stands at a massive combined worth of £733 million which is not far behind the Coates family, but this figure is down £99 million from their previous year figure.

Yet another duo occupies third place, namely the owners of Betfred, Fred and Peter Done, whose assets are valued at around £660 million.

Fourth place is occupied by Vikrant Bhargava also of PartyGaming with a fortune of £230 million while Victor Chandler is in 5th place with assets worth £160 million.

Others making the list in 6th and 7th place are Ed Wray and Andrew Black of Betfair with £125 million and £132 million respectively as well as Richard Koch with accumulated assets valued at £92 million.

Towards the bottom of the list is Phil Cronin of Tombola who is valued at a respectable £82 million which is £27 million more than reported last year.

As you can see, no matter what the economy does, the online casino and gambling business is still a very lucrative one for those who know what they are doing.

If you can only dream of fortunes like this at the moment, then why not play for them? A jackpot win could change your life!

The world of online gambling holds much excitement and interest among the millions of people from across the globe that play at online casinos on a regular basis.

It is little wonder then that the Hollywood spotlight has turned to the subject and it has recently been reported that a film about offshore online gambling and the deteriorating relationship between and online casino founder and his protégé is in the works.

According to reports, the Regency Pictures produced film entitled “Runner Runner” is a gambling themed thriller/drama written by the famous Brian Koppelman and David Levien of Rounders fame, and will be directed by Brad Furman who also directed Lincoln Lawyer.

What’s more is that Runner Runner will star Hollywood’s hottest actors, Ben Affleck and Justin Timberlake in what is sure to be a complete box office hit. While little else is known about the film, production is said to start in June.

The film name may seem a little strange for an online casino themed movie but it is actually named after the poker term “runner runner” which refers to a hand formed by hitting two consecutive cards on the turn and the river.

With these writers, directors and stars involved this is definitely a movie to look forward to, but if you simply can’t wait for the movie to come out for a little excitement, then play online at Ruby Fortune Casino now.

Barclay’s has recently announced that from the 28th of May 2012 Barclaycard will be increasing fees on cash withdrawals and will be imposing new charges on gambling while cash withdrawals made overseas will carry more favourable rates in future.

Once the new rates come into effect, customers withdrawing cash using their Barclaycard will incur a single fee even when making a withdrawal abroad. No interest will be charged on credit card withdrawals as long as payment are made by the due date as reflected on the most recent statement and no currency exchange fees will apply.

When it comes to the actual fees, debit card holders will incur a currency exchange fee of £2.99 plus a 2% cash machine fee (minimum £1.50, maximum £4.50) on each cash withdrawal.

Purchases made abroad with your Barclaycards will also see a currency exchange charge increase from 2.75% to 2.99% which adds £2.40 to the cost of every £1,000 spent.

When using your Barclaycard when gambling online there are currently no fees charged to players but from the 28th of May 2012 all wagers will be treated as cash withdrawals and a 2.99% fee will be levied. This means that gamblers will be facing an increase of 30% to a £10 bet or flutter on their favourite slot machine

According to Andrew Hagger of comparison site Money-net, the cheapest fees for cash withdrawal from credit cards are offered by Metro Bank and Halifax Clarity.

With these newly imposed fees, UK gamblers may wish to look at alternatives to using their credit cards such as the variety of e-wallets available when placing bets or playing at online casinos in future.

There are a number of well-known superstitions covering almost every aspect of life (and death) such as breaking a mirror will bring seven years bad luck or a black cat crossing your path will bring bad luck.

When it comes to gambling there are also a number of superstitions that players have and these cover everything from choosing casino games to etiquette and so much more.

Here we have a look at some of the weird and wonderful beliefs, superstitions and rituals that casinos and gamblers across the world adhere to both avoid bad luck and encourage good luck when gambling at both land based and online casinos.

Casinos

Many casinos in Las Vegas do not have a 13th floor; this is largely due to the fact that the number 13 is perceived as being unlucky.

Slot machine payouts are usually designed around a combination of three sevens, this is due to the fact that the number 7 signifies good luck, wealth and prosperity in many cultures and religions.

Player Superstitions

New players that win are said to have “Beginner’s luck” and it is widely believed that people playing a game for the first time will win.

Some players will avoid entering casinos via the front doors because they don’t want any of the losers leaving the casino’s bad luck to rub off on them as they enter. Very superstitious gamblers will always enter a casino by the lesser used side entrances.

Lucky Charms like horseshoes, rabbit’s feet or a supposedly lucky piece of clothing or jewellery are carried or worn by the player and are believed to bring good luck and increase chances of winning.

Certain actions are also believed to bring good luck like blowing on or rubbing the dice before rolling them in the game of craps, crossing fingers, sitting cross-legged, repeatedly picking up playing cards in the same way and stacking chips neatly.

Asian gamblers believe that the colour red is lucky and often wear it to bring good luck and avoid a variety of hotel room numbers when booking their casinos stays in order to avoid bad luck.

Many gambler’s also believe that counting money while gambling can bring bad luck, as can touching someone else’s chips and these should be avoided at all costs.

Singing and whistling while gambling are also to be avoided if you want to win.

These are just a few of the common casino superstitions and rituals that players believe even if some do seem a little illogical; it seems that they are here to stay and as long as they are not controlling you or someone you know, they can add a little fun to your game play.

British Chancellor George Osborne recently confirmed that the UK will move ahead with planned taxation of remote gambling. He stated that online gambling is defined as taking place at the point of consumption and that operators accessing the UK market who are based offshore will be subject to secondary licensing and taxation. While this will take some time to implement, the move has been observed as part of Osborne’s plan to attract major UK online casino and gambling empires back to UK shores.

Additionally, Osborne announced that he would be introduction double taxation relief for online gambling from April and stated that a whopping 90% of online gambling operations offering online casino games and betting to UK citizens were located outside of the UK and that the current UK based operations were under pressure to leave, which he insisted was not a fair and sensible way to support jobs in Britain. He added that the forthcoming changes would help to create a more level playing field and protect existing jobs within the industry.

While this definitely is a move in the right direction, industry experts noted that implementation would take anything from 2 years or more and treasury budgets estimate that the impact will result in changes of £55 million in 2014-15; £240 million in 2015-16 and £270 million in 2016-17.

The Treasury document states that the current taxation regime of online gambling has led to offshore operators avoiding UK gambling taxes by remaining offshore. With a widened tax base and a more fair basis for competition between UK based and offshore online gambling operators, Budget 2012 ensures that Government will commence a tax regime whereby operators located anywhere in the world will pay gambling duties on gross profits generated from UK based clientele. This decision is in line with the actions of several other European countries.

While this may take time to come into effect, it is a very positive move for online casinos and sportsbooks based in the UK and we hope to see significant growth in these markets in future as a result.

Playtech powered casinos like EuroGrand recently welcomed a new progressive jackpot slot to their portfolios and it’s already got everybody talking!

The new progressive slot is aptly titled “Everybody’s Jackpot” and is a revolutionary multi-player progressive jackpot online slot packed with wild and scatter symbols as well as a possible 12 re-triggering free spins feature.

In addition to this, the game offers a Mystery Progressive Jackpot that can be played should you qualify for it. To be eligible for this jackpot all you have to do is wager a minimum of €50 within a 24 hour time period. Once a win takes place, players who have qualified will receive a portion of the win.

This means that the main winner of the Mystery Progressive Jackpot will take home 70% of the prize pool while 15% of the winning will be distributed amongst the qualified players and a further 15% will be divided amongst other players on a proportional basis which means that this really is “Everybody’s Jackpot” because everyone wins!

In order to ascertain whether or not you have qualified to win you can check out the meter displayed next to the reels on the slot dashboard. So if you’re in the mood for some action packed fun, head on over to Playtech powered Euro Grand Online Casino now.

There are many people who play at both online casinos and brick and mortar ones and then there are those who play exclusively online. For some the decision to play online is due to practical reasons like the fact that they are located at great distances from land based casinos while others choose to play online as they feel that there is less risk involved in doing so.

While brick and mortar casinos have tight, state-of-the-art security, it is not always possible to ensure that every one of their patrons is honest and casino robberies as well as more petty pickpocketing do occur, the latter is especially prevalent in crowded rooms and because most casino players carry cash or chips around in their pockets, they are easy pickings. Also, winners can be spotted and targeted when leaving the casino with their jackpot cash.

When gambling online however, you are doing so in the comfort of your own home and you can simply focus on enjoying your game without worrying about keeping an eye out for less than savoury characters with ill intent. You can also simply play online funding your account by credit card or eWallet without needing to have cash on hand. Also, should you win a considerable sum of money, the cash is transferred directly into your bank account, credit card or eWallet upon cashout without you needing to carry large sums of cash, further reducing the risk of robbery.

There is also no risk of being cheated by the dealers at the tables or by other players because every game at trustworthy online casinos is governed by a Random Number Generator (RNG) which ensures that all results are random. These results are also independantly auditedand the findings are published online on a regular basis.

This being said though, there is still a certain amount of risk involved in playing online if you are not vigilant and due to this fact, you should always ensure that you only play at reputable online casinos like Ruby Fortune Casino. This means that the online casino in question should be licensed and offer encrypted transfers and transactions to keep your data confidential, have a record of free and fair game play, are renowned for swift, hassle free payouts and are audited by an independant, reputable company on a regular basis. In order to avoid rogue operations, you should avoid any online casinos on casino review sites blacklists.

From the above it is evident that both online casinos and land based venues do carry certain amounts of risk when playing, however, all things considered, online casinos definitely seem like the safer option.
